Dallas County Enforces "Operation Safe And Sober"

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― Dallas County Sheriff Deputies will be out in force this holiday weekend, cracking down on drunk drivers, speeders and those who don't wear their seatbelts.

Up to 25 deputies will be patrolling the roads, highways and interstates in Dallas County. Deputies will be armed with a relatively new tool called "No Refusal."

If a driver refuses to take a breathalyzer or a blood test, deputies can get a judge to sign off on an immediate warrant, giving them the right to draw blood.

The person will be placed under arrest and taken to the county jail where a trained technician would draw blood.
