Pee Wee Football Coach Suspended After Fight

HALTOM CITY (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A Pee Wee football coach who has been suspended for the rest of the season is speaking out for the first time.

Randall Thompson was sidelined along with two other adults after a fight at a Haltom City game last weekend.

Thompson had been a coach in the Haltom City Pee Wee Football League for 12 years.

This year he was coaching his son's team, the Bantam Aggies.

That team is now preparing for its first game tomorrow without Thompson.

Home video from last week's game show two boys getting tangled up during the last play of the game.

Number 61 from the Cowboys ends up getting ejected..

Witnesses say Thompson told the Cowboys player he got what he deserved.

Thompson says he was talking about the boy getting ejected.

But the boy's mother says her son was hurt. She thought that's what Thompson was referring to.

After the game she walked to the Aggies sideline and allegedly hit Thompson, triggering a brawl involving several parents.

After holding meetings Wednesday night, the president of the Pee Wee league suspended Thompson, the mother who allegedly hit him and that woman's adult brother.

The president of the association says he believes that Thompson was not referring to the Cowboys player being hurt, but he says Thompson's comment was still inappropriate, because it could be misinterpreted and that's why he was suspended.

The Haltom City Police Department is also investigating the fight.
