Pilgrim's Pride Co-Founder To Step Down As Chair

(AP) Pilgrim's Pride announced today that co-founder Bo Pilgrim is yielding the company chairmanship to his son, Ken.

A statement issued by the Pittsburg-based poultry processing giant today says the company board elected the son to serve as the company's new chairman. The elder Pilgrim has been named senior chairman and will remain on the company board.

Ken Pilgrim is 49 and has been with the company since 1977. He's served as executive vice president and assistant to the chairman since November 2004. He's also been a board member since March 1985.

Pilgrim's Pride is the largest chicken producer in the United States and Puerto Rico. It's also the second-largest chicken producer and seller in Mexico.
