DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― The family of a 6-year-old boy killed by the family's dog agrees the animal should be euthanized.

Scott Warren was attacked Friday night at his home on Pritchard in Dallas. He died at the hospital.

The day after the tragedy, his mother said she wants other parents to learn from her loss.

The fatal attack comes a day before a new state law takes effect in which dog owners whose pets attack and injure someone could face prison time.

Dallas Animal Control sequestered the animal and officials said it will be euthinized on Monday and sent to Austin for testing.
