Teddy Shiveley said he never imagined his picture to be on the front page of the newspaper with the President of the United States.
He said a combination of being excited about graduation from the Air Force Academy
last week and the president's jovial speech at the ceremony put him in the mood to do something different.
Some graduates did back flips while others had Bush sign their hats.
Shiveley said he wanted to do something unique and fun and almost didn't do the 'chest bump' because he worried about how the Secret Service would react.
But, the 22-year-old admitted on Saturday that he did gave the president a signal.
"I hit my chest and said 'chest bump' so he knew I was going to do it and it wouldn't be to unexpected."
Shiveley said bumping chests with the President felt like bumping chests with a regular guy.
"He kind of played the part he did the flex."
Its that down-to-earth charm the new said makes him comfortable with Bush being his Commander in Chief.
