Getting That Special Prom Dress For Less
CROWLEY (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
For many families struggling to survive, buying an expensive prom dress for their daughter isn't an option.
But teenagers in one North Texas town are getting a big break on those expensive dresses.
A Crowley florist is now selling new and rarely-used special occasion dresses.
Teresa Ashton owns C & C Florist. The shop is on Crowley Road, just a little south of Sycamore School Road.
Ashton decided to make dresses a part of her business after someone from the House of Hope told her they needed help getting rid of all the donated dresses they didn't have room for.
Young girls are shopping for prom dresses they'll only wear once and brides are paying a fourth of what they would have paid full price.
The business has been such a hit, the owner is now letting people buy and sell their dresses at the store. Seventy-five percent of all proceeds will continue to go to the House of Hope, a non-profit organization that helps needy families with toys, clothes and food.
