Dallas PD Finds Teen Prostitutes At Massage Parlor
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Dallas police say they found two girls, ages 14 and 15-years-old, engaging in prostitution at a local massage parlor.
The girls were found at the Golden Flower Sauna on Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas.
Police took the girls from the sauna Monday. According to authorities, the two were runaways from the Los Angeles and allegedly brought to the Metroplex for sex.
Members of the Los Angeles Police Department contacted Dallas police and told them the two girls were at the Golden Flower.
Local business owner Mary Allred says while the situation is sad, it is not surprising. "I think it's a shame. I don't think anyone should be exploiting children," she said. "I have had a clue there we're girls that young over there."
Allred says she's seen scantily dressed women at the sauna, but thought they were all adults.
When police found the girls, the pair told officers that a 17-year-old girl bought them a bus ticket and convinced them to come here.
The girls say after they arrived in North Texas, ads for sex were posted on craigslist.com and they were forced to pay the girl who brought them here.
When CBS 11 News went to the Golden Flower workers denied knowing about any wrongdoing. One woman was asked, "Do you know if people were arrested here yesterday?" and she responded, "No, I don't know."
Officials with the Dallas Police Department say since they have started to work more with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children they are finding more and more of girls, like these, working as prostitutes.
"When we go into massage parlors, we're looking for these children who may be runaways or held against their will," explained Dallas police Sr. Cpl. Janice Crowther. "And we're finding more because we started targeting them."
Police arrested 17-year-old Angelina Socung and charged her with compelling prostitution. Crowther said, "These girls who were working as prostitutes were giving her (Socung) their money."
As it stands, police continue to search for another person, a 19-year-old man, in connection with the prostitution investigation. Police are also looking to see if the operators of the Golden Flower broke any laws.
