School Bus Fails To Get Red Oak 6-Year-Old Home

RED OAK (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A family in the Ellis County community of Red Oak says they had the scare of their lives.  And they don't want it to happen to you.

Six-year-old Kristen Phelan got on her school bus Monday afternoon to go home after her first day of classes.

Kristen's safe with her family now.  

But the bus didn't take her home Monday.  

One story says she got off the bus before it reached her stop.  Another account says the Red Oak ISD driver let her off at the wrong place.

The woman who found the girl says she thinks two men might have tried to kidnap her.  Police say that's not the case.  

But Kristen's father says anything could have happened to his daughter because of the bus driver's mistakes.
