Plano Mom Agrees To Psychiatric Treatment
PLANO (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A Plano mother accused of twice dropping her 21-month-old daughter from a second story stairwell could soon be out of jail and in a psychiatric treatment facility.
Under a deal struck today in Collin County court on Tuesday, Padmaja Enjeti now has a reduced bond of $100,000 down from a previous bond of $1 million.
Assuming bond is posted, Enjeti will be transferred to
Timberlawn Mental Health System
for a psychiatric evaluation. Under terms of the order, she cannot be released from Timberlawn until it is proven she is not a danger to herself or others. The 37-year-old also was ordered to surrender her passport and must wear a monitoring device.
According to her attorney, Enjeti is a diagnosed schizophrenic with a history of mental illness. Enjeti's husband has also reported a history of hallucinations.
On Nov. 27, police received a call from the woman who said she dropped the child. It was later learned she dropped the child twice.
At that time, the mother was charged with injury to a child. The toddler suffered a fractured skull. The child remains in Child Protective Services custody. A CPS hearing later today will determine if she and her older sister will remain in CPS custody.
