Cowboys Roster Cuts Having Impact On Local Charity
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
When the Dallas Cowboys cut their roster down to 53 players last week there may have been more than just the players themselves feeling the pain.
Refuge House in Dallas is a children's home and foster care system. The program planned to have former Cowboys receiver Isaiah Stanback as their spokesman, heading up PSA's and fund raising efforts.
Refuge House and Stanback had started planning fundraising for their Christmas program, hoping to raise money for gifts and events.
Now, Stanback has moved to Boston as the practice squad quarterback for the New England Patriots, and the kids and directors at the Refuge House are worried that no one will help the kids like before.
Dr. Michele Gorman is the Refuge House director, and says losing Stanback was tough. "Isaiah was one who brought hope. He brought little gifts to them in the hospital. He really bonded with one of our teenaged boys."
The Refuge House hopes someone will step up to help. For more information on the Refuge House, check out their
website.
