Medical Examiner ID's Man Killed At FW Sack-N-Save

Police Say Fatal Shooting Began With Suspected Shoplifting

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ―

Officials have identified the man who died at a hospital Monday night following a shooting and suspected shoplifting at a Fort Worth Sack-N-Save.

According to reports, a manager from the grocery store on Altamesa Boulevard followed a man to the parking lot because he thought he was stealing.

The store's security guard also followed and at some point, the suspect jumped into a truck and the driver sped toward the officer.

That security guard, a John Peter Smith Hospital police officer who was working off-duty at the time, opened fire and hit someone inside the truck.

Police later learned someone arrived at Huguley Hospital with a serious gun shot wound. That man was identified as Judas Lozano-Gaza after he died.

Authorities also do not know if Lozano-Garza was the suspected shoplifter or another passenger in the truck.
