Irving Mother & Daughter Killed In Bizarre Crash

IRVING (CBS 11 News) ―

A car crash in Irving killed two people last night. The accident happened just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of Esters Road and Pioneer Drive when the vehicle of a mother and daughter was struck by another driver who experienced a seizure.

Irving police say 25-year-old Paul William Gillian was driving a silver 2007 Honda Accord, traveling southbound on Esters, when he suffered a seizure. The man was unable to control the vehicle.

The passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Lavonne Gillian, tried to move the driver's foot off the accelerator, but couldn't. From the passenger seat the woman tried to steer the vehicle and was able to avoid hitting two vehicles, from behind, by swerving into the northbound lanes of Esters.

Pamela Rodriguez, 40, and her daughter Tiffany Vasquez, 15, both of Irving, were in a green 1994 Honda Accord traveling through the intersection of Esters and Pioneer as the seizure victim and his passenger approached. Passenger Gillian was unable to stop the vehicle and struck the '94 Honda in the driver-side door.

Rodriguez and Vasquez were both thrown from the vehicle and killed. Police are still trying to determine which one of them was driving the car.

Diana Morales told CBS 11 News that she already misses her cousin, Pamela Rodriguez. Rodriguez was a 40-year-old single mother of three. Morales remembers her cousin fondly. "She was full of life, lit up a room when she came in, and we will really miss her," she said.

T
hursday afternoon friends and family gathered at the Rodriguez apartment, not far from the crash scene, to remember and grieve for the teen and her mother.

Classmates of Vasquez say the teen was, 'the happiest girl on earth'. "She didn't waste a single moment of her life ever, ever, ever," explained friend Noriko Martinez. "She really did live life to the fullest. So there's nothing that she probably regrets."

Paul and Lavonne Gillian were both taken to Parkland Hospital and are listed in fair condition. Irving police tell CBS 11 News that they are still investigating the crash and leave open the possibility of charges being filed at a later date.
