Dallas Police Searching For Serial Rapist

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ―

Dallas police say a serial rapist who has terrorized women throughout Dallas has struck again.  Detectives say it's the tenth time the rapist has attacked in Dallas.

This time, police say, it happened in the 10,800 block of Stone Canyon on February 3.

The attacks date to 2005.  According to police, the rapist struck eight times that year.  He then struck again in 2007.

Police are concerned that what happened could signal a new wave of attacks. Police believe he may have briefly left the area or spent time in jail.

Dallas police say the suspect approaches women on foot as they are near their cars.  Most of the assaults have taken place late at night in the parking lots of apartment complexes in North Dallas.

None of the victims has been seriously injured.

While the assaults on women are over within minutes, the women are scarred for the rest of their lives.

"Anyone who is out late at night should be cognizant of the fact that this person is around," said Dallas Police Lt. Craig Miller.

Police describe the suspect as a 25- to 35-year-old black man who is either bald or has very short hair.  He's said to be 5' 8" to 6' tall, weighing 160 to 180 pounds with a heavy build.

Police say this is not the same suspect who has struck in other North Texas cities during the same time period, including Plano and Frisco.  According to police, that man has struck a total of 19 times in various North Texas cities.
