Arlington Man Dies In Slow-Speed Chase

ARLINGTON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
An Arlington man died following a slow-speed chase through the city.
Arlington police found Rito Chairez-Cortez, 46, asleep at the wheel at a stop light. Officers woke him up and Cortez drove off triggering the chase. He crashed into a parked vehicle on Daniel and Pioneer Parkway Monday night.
Police are still investigating to make sure officers followed the correct chase procedures, the department spokesperson said.
There was no word on why Cortez was asleep at the wheel or why he sped away from the police.
