Duo Smashes Through DalCo Store For ATM
(CBS 11 News)
A convenience store clerk preparing coffee for morning customers got her own morning jolt when a pair of thieves backed their truck through the front doors of the store and drove off with the ATM.
Shattered glass debris covered the sidewalk in front of the EZ Mart, 4505 Lasater Road, in an unincorporated part of Dallas County.
Dallas County Sheriff deputies believe two African American men wearing masks used a dark-colored truck to commit their early morning crime.
Officials said one of the suspects was lying in the bed of the truck during the crash and jumped out to help his partner hoist the ATM into the back of the truck.
The clerk was not injured and said she thought it safe to hide in the back of the store for safety.
She said she wasn't scared but did have time to push emergency alarm.
Deputies said the duo was last scene driving northbound on Lasater.
Investigators will review surveillance video from inside of store today.
