Ex-Cowboy Reacts To Exclusive CBS 11 Steroid Story

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A former Dallas Cowboy is reacting today after CBS 11 News reported he has ties to a Plano man who pleaded guilty in a steroids conspiracy.

In court this week, personal trainer David Jacobs admitted to possessing and distributing anabolic steroids and human growth hormone.

We found a picture of Jacobs with Matt Lehr, a former Dallas Cowboy who currently plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The NFL suspended Lehr last year for violating the league's steroids and related substances policy.

Today Lehr's attorney, Paul Coggins, issued a statement saying, "Matt made a mistake and paid a heavy price for it with a four game suspension last year. Since then he has been tested for banned substances on a weekly basis and has passed every test.  He will continue to be tested for the rest of his NFL career and will pass every time.  He learned from a past mistake and has grown from it."

Lehr's attorneys would not comment on Lehr's ties to Jacobs, nor on whether Lehr was tied to the criminal investigation.

Federal prosecutors are not commenting on the investigation or the case.
