Fort Worth Police Looking For 40,000 Stolen Boots

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Fort Worth Police are looking for some stolen boots.

$3 million worth, to be exact.

Police say more than 20,000 pairs of boots were stolen from a Justin Boots distribution center in Northeast Fort Worth.

Police are looking for just one suspect, whom they say struck on two different occasions.  The first was over Labor Day weekend, when he took nearly 11,000 pairs of boots and another 7,400 sets of boot uppers.

The second theft happened on November 9, when the thief stole another 9,900 pairs of boots.

The crook was not content to just take the boots, though.  He also stole the five steel shipping containers that held the boots, police say.

The thief cut the chain on a locked gate at the facility on E. Long Avenue, according to police, and surveillance video shows an unmarked 18-wheeler cab driving through the gate.  A few minutes later, police say the video shows the cab leaving the property towing a steel shipping container.  This routine happened three times over Labor Day weekend and twice more on November 9.
Police have recovered four of the shipping containers, but one is still missing.  None of the boots have been found.

Police have only a vague description of the suspect.
The total value of the boots and uppers is $3 million, police say.

Anyone with information about the missing boots is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 817.469.TIPS.  A $1000 reward is being offered.
