Once Elusive Alleged Female Robber Breaks Silence

(CBS 11 News) A woman suspected in a string of robberies in Tarrant County said she her intentions were not to hurt anyone.

Phyllis Dawn Harvey is accused of robbing businesses and carjacking motorists during a string of crimes.

The woman who eluded officers for weeks broke her silence this afternoon from the Tarrant County Jail.

Harvey said she couldn't believe the media coverage her crime spree generated.

The woman admitted she was addicted to heroin and cocaine and was desperate for money when she committed the crimes, which included three motel robberies, a fast food restaurant robbery in North Richland Hills, a motel robbery in Bedford and a gas station robbery in Grapevine. In some of the crimes, she has displayed a gun. In others, she has said that she has a gun but never displayed it.

Harvey was identified by a tattoo of a cross on a chain on her left wrist.
