Citizens Connect Via Internet, Unite In Discontent

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― United in discontent and connected by the internet, angry citizens gathered across the country for modern day tea parties to protest taxes.

One of those tea parties took place in Fort Worth. Protesters lined the street along the 7100 block of Camp Bowie.

While no tea was plunged into a mass body of water, there were about 300 people carrying signs and flags to protest taxes.

"They're going to kill jobs if he increases our taxes," said Godley resident Angela Cox.

The protesters are from all over North Texas. They're united for a lower tax rate, reduced government spending and reduced government.

The protesters say they got in touch with each other through emails and text messages.

"We're tired of the pork the government coming up with and they keep on taking money and wasting it. We're fed up. Enough is enough," said Frisco resident B. J. Bjorklund.

Dozens more tea parties are planned for later in the year.
