Woman Sentenced For Lover's Death Out Of Jail

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ― The Arlington woman sentenced to prison for her lover's death was released from jail Thursday night.

Tracy Roberson walked out of jail in the same clothes she was wearing when she was sentenced on Monday. She was crying when her attorney Jill Davis picked her up from jail.

Although she said she was relieved, she would not comment on much else. "I cannot put into words just how happy I am," she said.

Even though Roberson was sentenced to five years in prison after she was convicted of manslaughter, she was still eligible for what's known as an appeal bond. It allows her to remain out of jail while she appeals her verdict.

Last week, a jury sided in favor of prosecutors who said that Roberson caused the death of her lover, Devin LaSalle, by falsely claiming she was being raped when her husband caught them having sex.

Darrell Roberson said he shot and killed LaSalle out of fear for his wife's safety. He is not facing charges. His wife is now free on $25,000 bond.

A new attorney will handle Roberson's appeal. That appeal could take up to a year to complete.
