Van Runs Into Jet At DFW Airport
DFW AIRPORT (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A van collided with a jet at DFW Airport Thursday afternoon.
The jet, a
Midwest Airlines Boeing 717, was parked at Terminal E at the time and not moving, according to an airport spokesman.
Chopper 11 video showed the van wedged under the rear of the jet's fuselage. No damage to the jet or the van was visible from the air.
The van is owned by a company called ATR Aviation, according to DFW spokesman David Magana. He says the company is an airport contractor that helps load and unload jets.
ATR's website says it is an "aircraft maintenance firm" based in Florida.
Magana says the driver of the van might have had a heart attack. Paramedics took him to a local hospital. His condition is not known.
Several people were on the airplane at the time, boarding for a flight. Magana says the FAA has inspected the jet and deemed it airworthy, so airport crews are now working to get the van out from underneath it.
