Cedar Hill Woman Found Dead On Street Identified

CEDAR HILL (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Cedar Hill police have a murder mystery on their hands.

Tuesday they found the body of 67-year-old Dorothy Reiter lying in the middle of the street. Police officials believe she was the apparent victim of a brutal attack.

It happened at the intersection of Lemmons and Ragland in Cedar Hill.

Neighbors say the woman was coming back from her daily walk along Lemmons.

A police officer on her way to an investigation discovered the woman in the middle of the road. It was 11:40 a.m. and nobody saw a thing.

Neighbors say the woman lived alone on Ragland, but she walked to the corner and down Lemmons every morning.

They say police had told them she was stabbed on the way back from her walk and had staggered onto the street. Police think robbery was the motive.

"She was a nice woman," said Charles Vallier. "I can't see how somebody would want to do something to an innocent, nice, quiet, to herself woman. It's kind of shocking."

"I just pray we all come together and just be watchful," said Jackie Brisby. "But my heart goes out to her and her family and much prayer"

An obvious police presence could be seen in the neighborhood Tuesday evening. Wednesday, police were back in the neighborhood with search dogs, looking for clues.

Police say there are no witnesses, but they have a few leads.
