Wylie Teen Arraigned For Beating Death
WYLIE (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A 17-year-old Wylie teenager was arraigned on murder charges Monday, two days after he and four other teenagers allegedly beat a man to death for complaining about their reckless driving.
Jonathan Odell Bird, 28,
was killed in front of his Wylie home on Saturday night.
Ethan Dorris is the oldest of the five alleged killers, and the only one who is not a juvenile.
The arrest warrant affidavit in the case says Dorris and his 16-year-old brother were among the teens who -- in the words of the affidavit -- "jumped" Bird after Bird confronted the teens about reckless driving.
The affidavit says a witness identified both Ethan and his brother, and that the brother was dressed in red with a red bandana. Two witnesses claim the younger brother yelled "blood" during the attack and kicked Bird while he was down.
A man at Dorris' home in Wylie had harsh words for reporters Monday. "We've been harassed ever since the other day and I'm tired of it," said the man, who would not identify himself. "The family's tired of it; the family's not here and you need to leave."
The three other juveniles accused in the case were arrested at a house in Garland. The reaction was much the same there, where a man who would not identify himself said, "Don't you dare come on this property."
Police also seized a pickup truck at the Garland house.
