With two practices under their belt since a disappointing season opening loss to the Washington Wizards, the Mavericks depart for Los Angeles this afternoon where they will try, try again this weekend.
"Look, we took a step backwards in the Washington game," Mavs Head Coach Rick Carlisle said after practice today. "It's disappointing, but we'll learn from it and keep going forward."
After falling to teammate Matt Carroll in a spirited post practice 3-point shooting contest this afternoon, Dirk Nowitzki met briefly with the media.
Nowitzki repeatedly said the Mavericks can improve by working harder, which he believes the team has done the past two days in practice. He says it will also help when their shots start falling.
It's a daunting task on Friday night against the defending world champion Lakers. Nowitzki says the addition of Ron Artest to an already loaded lineup makes the Lakers clearly the team to beat in the NBA.
Both Mavs-Lakers on Friday night and Mavs-Clippers on Saturday night can be seen on TXA 21. Mavericks Game Night with Gina Miller and Derek Harper begins at 9pm each night, immediately following TXA 21 News - First in Prime at 7pm.
