Dallas Convention Center Preps For NBA Jam Session

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― The Super Bowl is done... now the 'super' party for the NBA is headed to Dallas this week. The All-Star Game is Sunday at Cowboys Stadium, but thousands of fans will fill the Dallas Convention Center for the 3-day NBA Jam Session.

CBS 11 went inside the Convention Center for a preview of the basketball blowout that begins Thursday.

The convention center is a venue as large as the State Fair midway and is now the centerpiece for the NBA festival.

"We want to make sure the fans in Dallas get a taste of All-Star Weekend," said Karen Barberan, with the NBA. "We know it's big for us, but bigger for the city of Dallas."

Folks from the NBA offered a sneak peek of the carnival-like attraction that is being set up. It includes 11 acres of nothing but basketball -- NBA-style. There are a dozen spots for games; including a 3000-seat arena for a celebrity game with Lebron James.

Fans can enjoy a Kids Zone, the basketball hall of fame and the Jam Session that is geared to be an up close and personal event with the game and players.

"This is the place for the fan. Obviously, not everyone can get to the game, so this Jam Session is bringing game to the fans, up close and personal," explained Gail Hunter, with the NBA.

The All-Star Jam Session begins Thursday Feb 11.
