The NBA All-Star Game is coming to North Texas in 2010 -- but not to the American Airlines Center.
As CBS 11's Gina Miller first reported Tuesday afternoon in
The Bullpen sports blog, sources confirm that the game will be played at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington.
The official announcement appears to be planned for Thursday, which is also the regular season opener for the Mavericks. They play Houston at the AAC.
The last time that Dallas hosted the NBA All-Star Game was 1986, when Rolondo Blackman represented the Mavericks. Isiah Thomas was the game's MVP, and Spud Webb won the annual Slam Dunk Contest.
The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium, currently being constructed a stone's throw away from the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, is scheduled to open at the start of the 2009 football season. It will host the Super Bowl in 2011.
