N.Y. Teen May Have Met Attacker On Myspace

NEW YORK (CBS) ― A 13-year-old boy who was cuffed to a tree, stripped and stranded on Staten Island, N.Y. might have met his attacker online on MySpace.com, according to published reports in the Staten Island Advance.

The teen says he was on his way to his bus stop yesterday when a stranger grabbed him and took him into the woods. He was tied up for sometime, now the investigation into what really happened will resume again today.

"Me and a partner went down and we did see a person. He was handcuffed to a tree. Definitely shivering, like he was really cold. He barely had clothes on," ASPCA officer John DeLaTore said.

Those clothes are in bags of evidence that police carried from the scene after a long day of searching. They were alerted to the woods after a passer-by heard screams and notified two passing animal cruelty officers who rushed to the rescue.

"I just wanted to get him out of there," DeLaTore said.

The 13-year old was treated at Staten Island University Hospital where we are told doctors found no evidence of sexual assault. Sources told CBS 2, however, that DNA evidence was found at the scene.

"He claimed that he had been taken and abducted by a man with a knife- he is still being treated," Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Detectives are meantime searching for a suspect, but the description is still very vague: A man 5-foot, 10, with dark skin, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants.
