Flu Scare Detains Passengers On Jet From Cancun

BALTIMORE (CBS) ― Airport officials say 117 passengers were briefly detained at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport after arriving on an Airtran flight from Cancun, Mexico.

Twoof the passengers reported having nausea and fever. It was later determined the men did not have swine flu, according to Baltimore-Washington International Airport spokesperson Jonathan Dean.

"Out of an abundance of caution, local health officials met AirTran Airways flight 85 from Cancun after the crew reported that two passengers were showing signs of illness," said Airtran spokesperson Christopher Wright. These passengers were checked by local health officials and were released along with everyone else on the flight."

Dean said the plane taxied to the international gate where it was met with airport's fire and rescue department. After getting in touch with state and federal health authorities, the two men and other passengers were released.
