Texan Who Lied About Rape Guilty In Lover's Death

Husband Fatally Shot Wife's Lover After Finding Them Engaged In Sex

FORT WORTH, Texas (CBS) ― An Arlington woman has been found guilty of manslaughter, but she didn't actually kill anyone, CBS station KTVT-TV in Dallas reports.

Tracy Roberson broke down in tears as she was led out of a Tarrant County courthouse in handcuffs Friday afternoon. She will spend the weekend in jail as she waits for the punishment phase of her trial to begin on Monday.

Roberson was convicted in the death of her former lover, Devin LaSalle.

LaSalle was shot and killed outside Roberson's Arlington house in December of 2006. That night Roberson's husband, Darrell, had returned home from a poker game to find his wife and LaSalle having sex in a truck parked outside.

While Darrell Roberson fired the shots that killed LaSalle, it happened after his wife claimed she was being raped.
The defense claimed that Tracy Roberson made the rape statement after the shooting because she was afraid her husband was going to kill her.

Tracy later admitted that she had lied and was a willing participant in the sexual activity.

Roberson's attorney, Jill Davis, told CBS 11 "I'm surprised, disappointed. we were hoping for a different verdict."

Davis will ask the jury to give Roberson probation for the crime. They say the 37 year old has never been in trouble before, and her three kids need her.
