A deadly dog fighting ring operating in an East Arlington neighborhood has resulted in the arrest of one homeowner. Police say Christopher James Clark abandoned his house, leaving dead and starving pit bulls behind.
Despite Clark's car being in his driveway, it took police several days to locate Clark. Authorities believe he ran some sort of dog fighting operation from his home and say the abandoned dogs were left uncared for more than two weeks.
A 'Beware of Dog' sign in the window of the Arlington house warns visitors about the animals. The surviving dogs found at the house are now being cared for by the people who found them chained and starving.
"The officer was able to see two live dogs chained, without food and water, and one deceased animal," said Alan Pierce with Arlington Animal Services.
Arlington police say Clark left four pit bulls alone. Seven other dogs were found dead in the backyard. Neighbors said they could smell the stench.
In all, 11 'cruelty to animal' charges have been filed against Clark.
Neighbors say they had complained before about the dogs and it was only when they found dead dogs that authorities came out to do something about it.
