Dallas Neighborhood Dogs Turned Into 'Fireballs'
Animals Were So Badly Burned, They Had To Be Put To Sleep
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A horrible crime has traumatized children in a Dallas neighborhood.
It happened over the weekend and involved two dogs that were turned into "fireballs," according to witnesses.
Two dogs, described as pit bull terriers, were set on fire Saturday night by someone in a Pleasant Grove neighborhood.
"I heard a whole lot of screaming, like a dog was crying. I looked out the window and saw a big ball of fire," said Shun Hickman, neighborhood resident.
CBS 11 obtained video that shows the injured animals after concerned residents took action. But the dogs were so badly burned, they had to be euthanized hours later.
Police reports traced the dogs to an address on Sunburst, where six other pit bulls were seized.
But no arrests have been made. This is something animal protection groups and witnesses want to happen.
"One of these dogs, her face - it was practically burned off. It was just horrific, as bad as it gets," said Jonnie England, Metroplex Animal Coalition. "They were in indescribable pain."
