DPD Confiscates Pit Bulls After Some Set On Fire

Compiled From Staff Reports
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Animal torture in one Dallas neighborhood has bred fear among neighbors who worry the crimes may get worse.

According to witnesses, two dogs were intentionally set on fire over the weekend and ran down a neighborhood street in Pleasant Grove. Their burns were so serious they had to be euthanized.

Tuesday, animal services confiscated seven dogs as police continued to search for two juvenile suspects.

Police fear the dogs' lives could be in danger. Two of the seven had injuries to their face and another is recovering from a leg injury.

"Looks to me like the one has been in a fight. It's got a bad leg and a cut eye. Definitely looks to me like it's been in a dog fight," said Kent Robertson, animal services.

Mike Wilbert lives in the neighborhood where the dogs were tortured. He owns the seven pit bulls confiscated by animal services. He said he wants his dogs back.

"I'm a dog lover. I don't do nothing to no dogs," he said. "I love my dogs. I let my dogs be beautiful."

Neighborhood residents say their streets are plagued with criminal activity, and they hope this incident will get the attention of police and city leaders.
