GRAPEVINE (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A North Texas family wants to know who shot their family pet. Their dog got out of the house and was shot in their neighborhood Saturday night. Now the Grapevine family is worried about their other dogs.
The Brodie family says they aren't sure why their 'Maxine' was shot. The family has filed a police report and posted flyers around their neighborhood, trying to find who killed their family pet.
According to the Brodie family, 2-year-old Maxine got out Saturday night. After about 20 minutes Maxine returned home and the family discovered the dog had been shot. They believe she was shot with a pellet gun. "She was crying and foaming at the mouth," recalled owner Marybeth Brodie.
The family rushed Maxine to the veterinarian, but it was too late.
"It kind of shocked me that somebody in the neighborhood would do that," said Marybeth. "With all the people who are friendly pet friendly I want to know who is against pets and who was taking target practice on my dog."
The Brodie family has three other dogs and now says they're not letting them out in the backyard. With one of his animals gone, Seth Brodie says it's hard to play with his other pets. "It was my dad's favorite dog and my favorite dog," he said.
Anyone with information about the dog shooting is asked to call the Grapevine Police Department. The family is offering a reward.
