Three roaming dogs took the phrase "a ruff ride home" to a whole new level Thursday afternoon.
The incident began when three white German Shepherds -- Lance, Santana and Cheyenne -- wandered a Philadelphia area highway.
Initially, the dogs blocked all lanes of traffic as they sniffed their way around the busy road during rush hour, CBS station KYW-TV reported. The dogs then veered off to a exit lane.
Fortunately, three Good Samaritans, one of whom was a PSPCA worker on her way home from work, got out of their cars and guarded the dogs until other officers from the SPCA arrived and placed the dogs into a truck.
It's reported that the dogs escaped a nearby home through a broken gate.
All three dogs were unharmed during the incident and have been reunited with their owner who is planning on spoiling the dogs when she gets them home.
"They're going to get a shower, see the vet again and then they're going back home to get a steak dinner," said the dog's owner.
