Coyote Sightings Making Grapevine Shoppers Nervous

GRAPEVINE (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Some North Texas shoppers spotted something a little unusual on Saturday afternoon in Grapevine.
Coyote sightings have become common near the lake there, but not a busy shopping center.
"I think that's very scary," says Lisa Farina who lives in Grapevine.
Farina was shopping with her daughter and says the sighting makes her nervous.
The lone coyote roamed the shopping center along Highway 114 and Highway 26 in front of Target for several minutes.
After running across the parking lot the coyote took off for some nearby train tracks and then returned to the shopping center.
"I think the coyote is more scared of us than we are of them," says Mike Vasquez who caught a glimpse.
Vasquez says he's seen coyotes in his neighborhood, but not out shopping before.
As Grapevine grows the problem police say won't go away.
"We usually see them in undeveloped area's up near the lake, but we rarely see them roaming around in an actual parking lot," says Lt. Dearing.
Dearing also says keep your pets inside.
"I feel worst for the coyote than most of the rest of us," says Ellen Moore "We are the ones who encroached on their territory,"
If you see a coyote call police and they will send animal control to trap the animals and move them to a different location.
