Dallas Family Finds Cats Dismembered In Driveway

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A Dallas family made a gruesome discovery when they find the remains of their kittens in their driveway in the 1700 block of Lebanon Ave.
Twice this week the family has found parts if what's left of their dismembered kittens.
The Harjo family has long been taking care of stray cats in their neighborhood. "To me they were my cats," said Amber Harjo. "I feed them all the time."
Geraldine Harjo talked about a recent arrival. "The mother cat started staying here and she had kittens."
On Tuesday the family says they came home from work to find two of the kittens dismembered. "I find half of a body, the cats head, and two arms. Then I find the gray cat over there and it looked like it was smooshed," Amber said.
The Harjos said Thursday night another kitten's head was cut and put in their driveway. Amber said the sight was very unsettling. "Just by seeing this you lose your appetite."
The family gathered the remains and and put them in a plastic bag, waiting for animal control to pick it up.
Since the cat parts were left at times when the family was away, they believe someone is watching them.
Dallas police say they first want to make sure another animal didn't kill the kittens, and then they'll focus on finding a human suspect.
Out of fear for their safety, the Harjos have taken the mother cat and her last little kitten to a pound. "If they do something like that, what can they do to a human being?" Geraldine asked.
For now, the family hopes other strays in their neighborhood are safe from what happened to their kittens.
