Dallas Man Searches For His Puppy's Killer

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A Dallas man made a gruesome discovery in his own backyard.
Someone had decapitated his puppy.
Tim Speaks is struggling to understand why someone would hurt one.
"She was laying in the yard," he said. "She was still warm."
Speaks said he checked on his four puppies -- Labrador / Rottweiler mixes -- Saturday morning.
"All four of them were running around," he said.
But when he came back that afternoon, he found one of them had been decapitated. And the puppy's head wasn't in his yard.
Speaks believes since there was little blood, whomever killed the puppy mutilated her somewhere else and then brought her body back.
"He's sick," Speaks said. "If I find him, I won't need the police."
While Speaks doesn't know who killed his dog, he admits he may have some enemies in his neighborhood.
He called 911 when copper was stolen from some of the homes he has remodeled.
And he has called police to report other crimes.
"You've got too much drugs and prostitution around here," he said. "I've been trying to stop it."
Now, Speaks is so worried for his other dogs, he takes them with him.
"It makes me real mad," Speaks said. "It's gonna be hard to find out who done it."
Speaks said he was hoping to find people to adopt the puppies.
If the criminal is caught, he or she could face felony charges for animal cruelty.
