Rooster Rustler Caught On Tape
Thief Steals 16 Show Birds From Fort Worth Man
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A rooster rustler has stolen 16 roosters from a Fort Worth man.
Cipriano Ochoa finally filed a police report after three months of someone stealing his roosters.
These aren't the barnyard variety. The show birds are worth hundreds, even thousands, of dollars.
Ochoa said they are also his companions.
"In the family, I got three babies -- one in Michigan, two in Mexico," said Ochoa. "The rooster is family."
The crossbreeds cost Ochoa from $100 to $500 a piece. The purebred costs $1,000.
Someone stole the purebred along with 15 of the crossbreeds.
Ochoa put up a surveillance camera and captured the crook twice. If the video isn't enough to catch the thief, he hopes the next one will.
Ochoa thinks the person who stole the birds knows him and how much the birds are worth.
