Texas took center stage today in the presidential race. Chelsea Clinton spent the day campaigning at three North Texas universities: University of Texas at Dallas, University of Texas at Arlington and the University of North Texas.
Wednesday afternoon the 28-year-old campaigned for her mother at UNT. While the number of attendees in no way rivaled that of the Reunion Arena rally for Barack Obama, hundreds of enthusiastic supporters were on hand.
Clinton started her day at UTD in Richardson, addressing a standing-room only crowd. Campus police estimate more than 200 people showed up.
On average, Clinton spent an hour talking with students and other supporters. In a soft-spoken manner, she answered all questions without hesitation.
"I think people should vote for her [Hillary Clinton] because she is the most qualified," Chelsea told an audience at UT-Dallas.
For the most part Chelsea Clinton, who refused to grant requests for reporter interviews, avoided giving speeches and simply took audience questions.
A statement on the Hillary Clinton website says, " The Texas primary will help decide who will become the next president. We know that Hillary has the strength and experience to lead on day one, and we need to reach out to as many voters as we can in Texas and tell them about her vision for the country."
Wednesday night
Hillary Rodham Clinton will be in Texas for campaign rallies in Hidalgo and Brownsville.
