Former Dallas Mayor Pro-Tem: Dismiss Indictments

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Former Dallas Mayor pro-tem Don Hill is asking a federal judge to dismiss his indictment in the city hall scandal.

Hill's attorney Ray Jackson has filed two motions claiming Hill is being prosecuted because he is African-American and a Democrat.

Jackson's other motion accuses the Justice Department of failing to screen the Dallas grand jury for bias against African-Americans.

Last September, Hill, his wife Sheila Farrington, former city plan commissioner D'angelo Lee, and state representative Terri Hodge were indicted for accepting bribes from developer Brian Potashnik in exchange for approving low-income housing projects.

In all, 16 people, including 12 African-Americans were indicted in the scandal last year.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Dallas isn't commenting on the motions, and hasn't filed a response to the motions in court yet.
