Bush Library Moving Forward At SMU

DALLAS (AP / CBS 11 NEWS) ― A Methodist group says it won't block George W. Bush's public policy institute as part of his presidential library center at Southern Methodist University.

The largely symbolic vote was a blow to the project's opponents.

The 290 delegates to the church's South Central Jurisdiction voted Thursday on a petition brought by opponents during a meeting in Dallas.

Opponents say they don't oppose the presidential library and museum -- just the think tank.

But SMU says the library complex has to include all three.

SMU has already moved forward on plans with the Bush Foundation since being named as the library site earlier this year.
