CBS 11 Live Blog From Obama Rally In Duncanville

DUNCANVILLE (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Sen. Barack Obama spoke at a campaign rally at the Meadows Arena at Duncanville High School Wednesday afternoon. Thousands of people filed in when the doors opened at 2:45 p.m. CBS 11's Steve Pickett blogging live from the event.

7:02 p.m.
Barack Obama spent more than an hour giving a standard stump speech to the crowd in Duncanville.
He took half a dozen questions from the audience.
I met two Duncanville residents, both were undecided voters before they entered the rally.
Tonight, both of them said they were convinced. One said her Republican husband won't be happy with her tonight.

4:37 p.m.
If you're looking for insight from supporters of Mr. Obama's campaign, you can definitely find it here.
Joe Simecek is not a supporter yet. The 55-year-old Duncanville man said he's attending the rally to see Obama up close. Simecek said he wants a president who can lead the country through complicated issues, but still be a "people" president.

4:16 p.m.
One of more fascinating aspects of watching an Obama campaign rally is the number of children attending.
Parents bring their youngsters to "see history," as one mother told me.
The woman is undecided at this point, but said she wanted her kids to see Sen. Obama.

3:38 p.m.
There's been a lot of discussion about the Latino vote in Texas.
Just met Antonio Mantanez, a Republican community activist. He deals with young gang intervention. He says he's here supporting Obama because he connects with relevant issues for Hispanics and working class Americans. Mantenez has his family here.

3:24 p.m.
It's early, but I can say right now this is a much more subdued crowd. There's no music pumping, no "Obama" chants yet.
They're just now starting to let the public in.
Several of the people we've talked with speak with enthusiastic zeal about Sen. Obama.
It's like they're repeating his campaign speech lines. They want "change" and "hope," but aren't direct on specifics.

3:15 p.m.
It's Obama time again in North Texas. We're in Duncanville, inside Meadows Arena at Duncanville High School.
Two noticeable differences for this stop vs. last week's Reunion Arena rally: security apparently is much tighter here. Agents with the TSA are monitoring the public entrance, and there's lots of them.
Also, the crowd will be smaller. This venus is about a quarter of the size of Reunion.
There are people lined up outside. The folks at the front of the lint started gathering at 10:30 a.m.
Sen. Obama is scheduled to arrive at 4:45 p.m.
