Toy Helicopter Sales Help Fight Hunger In N. Texas
Purchase Of "Chopper 11" Toys At Area Kroger Food Stores Benefits Local Food Banks
DALLAS / FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ―
20,000 toy versions of the CBS 11 News helicopter, "Chopper 11," will go on sale this weekend at all area Kroger food stores to benefit the North Texas Food Bank and the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
For each of these live-action toys sold in local stores, the Food Banks will be able to fund approximately six meals for North Texans in need.
"We know that the demand on our local non-profit organizations is greater than ever this year as a result of the Gulf Coast hurricanes," said CBS 11 President and General Manager Steve Mauldin. "We're glad to support them in any way possible, and we hope that others will join us in the fight against hunger right here in North Texas."
"Kroger and CBS 11 have found terrific holiday partners in the North Texas and Tarrant Area Food Banks," said Gary Huddleston, consumer affairs director for Kroger Southwest. "Kroger would like to encourage its customers to purchase a CBS 11 toy helicopter, not only as a unique Christmas present, but also as a way to help our area Food Banks provide holiday meals for those less fortunate in our community."
The "Chopper 11" toys will sell for $6.99 each.
