Ryan/Greenberg Group Reach Deal For Rangers
ARLINGTON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Former Texas Rangers Star Nolan Ryan can now add a new title to his list of baseball accomplishments - Part Texas Rangers owner.
Ryan, along with Pittsburgh attorney Chuck Greenberg have completed their deal to buy the Rangers from Tom Hicks.
The pair must now get approval from Major League Baseball, but that deal is likely as Commissioner Bud Selig has been a supporter of the Ryan/Greenberg group.
The group consists of 12 partners from North Texas, including Hicks staying on as a minority partner.
Ryan will remain as the Rangers club president.
Both Greenberg and Ryan have been owners of various Minor League Baseball clubs.
The new group will be the 6th ownership group of the Rangers since their relocation to Arlington in 1972.
