Holistic Healer Arrested For Sexual Assault
LEWISVILLE (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
"Message of Joy" is a quaint spiritual and holistic healing shop in old Lewisville. It was quickly becoming a favorite spot for one North Dallas woman.
But on her fourth visit, she said something terrible happened.
"Why could I let this happen," the woman, who did not want to be identified, asked herself.
The woman said she ran into 52-year-old Larry Kauf, who works at Messages of Joy. The woman said Kauf offered to relieve some tension with several deep-breathing exercises.
"He said, 'Keep breathing; keep breathing,' and the more I did, the more I became light headed and disoriented," she said.
From there, she said Kauf started massaging pressure points on her body to relieve stress. At first, the woman said it was nothing unusual. Then he put his hands over her breasts and under her bra.
Still disoriented, the woman said Kauf convinced her to lay down on a message table.
"The first thing he did was put his hand down into my pants and under my underwear," she said.
When the woman cleared her head, she got up from the table and walked to the front of the store. "I came out and I thought to myself, 'Did he just overstep?'"
The woman said that although she realizes she had been molested, she still could not bring herself to come forward.
"At first I was in total denial and shock. Then I realized, yeah, this did happen," she said.
The woman came forward after hearing three other victims contacted Lewisville police with similar stories.
Meanwhile, Kauf has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.
CBS 11 talked to three employees of "Message of Joy." They say that Kauf is a decent man and would never harm anyone.
