Controversial Islamic Films To Air On Cable TV

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Two controversial films about Radical Islam have aired around the world, but never in the United States until now. A cable network plans to air the films despite the objections of North Texas Muslims who say the movies present a narrow view of their world.

American Life Network plans to show the films "The Third Jihad" and "Obsession" in their entirety. CNN has previously shown clips from one of the movies.

Why would ALN, a network that shows family-friendly programming, air these two films?

"We felt really compelled because no other network would take a stance," explained ALN's CEO, Chris Wyatt. He bought the network from the Unification Church in February and is also founded GodTube, a company he sold.

Wyatt said that "The Third Jihad" and "Obsession" are not films about religion, but a matter of national security. "That's what we're really trying to shed light on, is the issue that's come to Dallas, for example. Recently, the FBI uncovered a plot to blow up one of our buildings downtown," Wyatt said.

"The Third Jihad" focuses on the FBI's discovery of a grand manifesto for a 'Cultural Jihad' to undermine the United States. The plans are for a takeover of every branch of American society, under the cloak of religion, within 100 years.

The documentary includes interviews with former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Homeland Security secretary Tom Ridge, Sen. Joe Lieberman, former CIA director Jim Woolsey, American Muslims, the founder of the American-Islamic Forum and a first-hand account from a former terrorist.

"Obsession" is an insider's view of the hatred taught by Radical Islam.

The two documentaries include rarely-before-seen clips from Arab television. "Quite frankly, what this documentary does is show their plans in their own words," said Wyatt.

There are an estimated 200,000 Muslims living throughout North Texas. Inside one of Irving's mosques, Imam Moujahed Bakhach reflected on the films. He doesn't think that they should air. "The way we saw in the documentary, this is crazy and absolutely insulting Islamic principles of Jihad and the concept of Jihad," he said.

The films state that they are not about Muslims who practice peace, but rather those who do not.

Every religion has extremists, Bakhach said, and those who have twisted the concept of Jihad go against the Quran. "To defend yourself is not terrorism," he explained. "But to overpass that limit and to react by killing innocent people, we have a verse in the Quran similar to the Bible."

"The Third Jihad" airs on ALN at 6 p.m. on Oct. 18, Time Warner Cable channel 103 and Verizon channel 243. "Obsession" airs on ALN at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6. The network estimates 20 million viewers nationwide will tune in to watch the films.
