Jessie's Story: Doctors Remove Part Of Girl's Brain

A little girl is capturing the hearts of people from Aledo to Baltimore. On June 11, 2008, doctors removed part of Jessie Hall's brain in a day-long surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The 6-year-old was diagnosed with Rasmussen's encephalitis, a rare brain disease, in the fall 2007.

On the family blog Jessie's dad, Cris Hall wrote: "The assistant surgeon came in and asked Jessie if he could write his initials on the right side of her head. This to ensure that the correct side is removed. She replied 'OK ! Can I write on your head?' "
