National Day of the American Cowboy (NDAC) is an annual and national celebration. It's purpose is to honor "American cowboys", including vaquero, native American and African American cowboys and cowgirls.
NDAC was started in 2004 after American Cowboy magazine polled their readers and found an overwhelming desire to celebrate these icons of the American West. In fact, for four straight years (2004-2008), the U.S. Senate has passed a resolution proclaiming the 4th Saturday in July as the National Day of the American Cowboy.
