Hurricane Dolly Hits Texas

Hurricane Dolly gained momentum and power as it bore down on the Texas-Mexico border July 23, 2008. Residents took shelter and federal and state resources were put into place in anticipation of the storm causing widespread damage.

A television crew was on South Padre Island as the entire Texas Gulf Coast and parts of the Rio Grande Valley took shelter and braced as Hurricane Dolly -- now a Category 2 hurricane -- moved closure to shore on July 23, 2008.
