King Tut: Burial Of The Pharaohs

The most popular exhibit ever to come to the United States is coming to Dallas.  Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs will be at the Dallas Museum of Art from Oct. 3 to May 17.  CBS 11 News went to Egypt in the spring of 2008 and got exclusive access to many of the relics that will travel to the U.S. -- and many more that will remain in Cairo.  This is one of three slideshows we created with the pictures we took there.  Photos of the mummy and the items buried with it can be seen here.  Pictures of the treasures found in Tut's tomb are here.

This sign marks the entrance to Tut's tomb. Tombs in the Valley of the Kings are numbered in the order in which they were found. Tut's was the 62nd tomb found, about 3200 years after his death. You can read Carter's original notes and see the pictures taken during his excavation here.
